FAQ
What is the Korea Fear & Greed Index?
A 0–100 score that summarizes investor sentiment in the Korean stock market. Values near 0 mean extreme fear and values near 100 mean extreme greed. It is calculated after every Korean trading day from Korean market data.
How is it different from the CNN Fear & Greed Index?
CNN's index measures the US market. This index applies a similar idea to Korea, using KOSPI, Korean listed stocks, KOSPI 200 options, VKOSPI, Korean bond yields and USD/KRW.
When is it updated?
Once per trading day after the Korean market close: first around 15:45 KST as soon as the exchange publishes official closing data, then recalculated after 18:15 KST once option volumes and FX settle. There is no intraday value.
Is a low score a buy signal?
No. The index describes sentiment; it does not predict prices. Historically, extreme fear did not reliably lead to higher returns than average. This is not investment advice.
